Mission:
To foster and promote research, publications, financial support for students in India, student outreach, networking between geoscientists in India and North America, and other geoscience programs endorsed by the SPGNA Executive Council.
Objectives:
- To advance Geoscience knowledge through scientific investigation, collaboration, mentoring, networking between people in the field from India and abroad.
- To disseminate scientific information arising from investigations in geosciences through
publications, meetings, symposia, conferences, field trips, short courses, workshops and lecture series.
- To raise
awareness of financial support available (specially to students)
through various sources i.e institutions, professional societies, oil & gas
companies, and etc.
- To raise awareness of various career paths in India and abroad.
- To promote and improve the SPG-India publication "Geohorizons"
- To encourage professional collaboration with SPG-India.
- To increase funding in SPGNA for various collaborations and helping students from India
i) Soliciting contributions from SPGNA members through mailings and personal contacts;
ii) Soliciting funding from industry to support the SPGNA objectives and SPGNA supported special events; and
iii) Identifying new funding sources from affiliated businesses
